The electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the United States is experiencing significant growth. As of 2024, the market was valued at approximately $5.09 billion and is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 30.3% from 2025 to 2030. This expansion is driven by initiatives from both public and private sectors to encourage EV adoption.

In Maryland, the state is actively enhancing its EV charging network. The Maryland Transportation Authority has installed 15 publicly available charging stations at three toll facilities: five each at the Bay Bridge in Annapolis, and at the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel and Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore.

Additionally, the Maryland Department of Transportation has issued a Request for Proposals to build up to 29 new EV charging stations across the state's highways, aiming to further support the growing number of EV users.

These developments reflect a broader national trend toward expanding EV infrastructure to meet increasing demand and promote sustainable transportation solutions.
